Caretaker PM calls for exploration of oil and gas in Pakistan


Caretaker PM Kakar attends Petroleum Conference 2024

ISLAMABAD: The Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar attended the Petroleum Conference 2024 in Islamabad as a chief guest on Tuesday.

The conference was organised by the Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy in Islamabad. In his address, the caretaker PM stressed the need for collaborative efforts to explore oil and gas reserves within Pakistan despite the country’s abundant natural resources.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to boost exploration and production initiatives for oil and gas with a particular focus on infrastructure development, logistics, and security.

Kakar said that the conference highlighted the aim of making Pakistan a regional energy exporter. For this, a collective dedication to fully exploring and harnessing Pakistan’s vast mineral potential was required. He stressed his aim of making Pakistan achieve energy self-sufficiency.

The conference was attended by the provincial chief ministers, energy ministers, Secretary Petroleum, and other government officials and policymakers. The event also attracted various foreign and domestic investors, and international delegates from the Energy and Petroleum (E&P) sector.

The Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir also attended the conference as a chief guest.

PM Kakar applauded the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the Federal Ministry of Energy for fostering an investor-friendly environment by streamlining regulations and procedures regarding oil and gas exploration.

Meanwhile, the country manager of Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company Ali Taha Al-Tamimi praised the efforts of Pakistani government in formulating policy recommendations and uniting stakeholders to boost investment in the petroleum sector of Pakistan.
