WEB DESK: Amid a rising trend of people turning to Artificial Intelligence (AI) for emotional support, Casio Computer Co has introduced AI-powered robotic ‘Moflin’ pet designed to offer comfort and companionship.
The company, best known for its G-Shock watches, unveiled ‘Moflin’, an AI robot resembling a fluffy animal that learns and develops its own personality based on its environment.
According to Yahoo News, Casio’s AI pets have seen remarkable success in Japan, where nearly 10,000 units were sold by the end of May 2025.
Priced at $400, the company is now expanding to markets in the US and the UK.
Ryoichi Furukawa, Deputy Senior General Manager at Casio’s Sound and New Business Division, said the company is seeking new revenue streams as its traditional product lines — watches and calculators — reach market maturity.
“Mental wellness is a clear growth area,” Furukawa added.
Casio’s internal data shows that 45 per cent of robotic pet buyers in Japan purchased them for healing and comfort. Industry projections indicate that the AI-powered emotion analytics market could reach $28.19 billion by 2032.
