Islamabad’s civic administration is set for a major digital transformation, with the government announcing that all records of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) will be fully digitised within 120 days.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where ongoing and upcoming development projects in the capital were reviewed. The minister said the digitisation drive would allow citizens to track the real-time status of their applications, aiming to improve transparency and efficiency in public service delivery.
Naqvi also issued a strict directive that illegal housing societies will not be permitted in Islamabad, signalling a renewed crackdown on unregulated urban development. Officials were instructed to accelerate the pre-qualification process for three international companies tasked with constructing key infrastructure projects, including a new Convention Center, Expo Center, and Islamabad Arena.
According to the minister, these projects are expected to be completed before the upcoming SCO Summit, reflecting efforts to position the capital for major international engagement. The meeting also approved land allocation for a service center in Sector F-6 and discussed plans for recreational development, including Top Golf, hot air balloon rides, zip lines, water parks, and amusement facilities.
Naqvi further stressed the importance of promoting sports infrastructure, directing officials to develop modern sports complexes and prepare a comprehensive plan for recreational spaces around Shahdara Dam.
