LONDON: Chelsea have sacked manager Liam Rosenior after a disastrous run of results, including seven defeats in their last eight matches across all competitions.
The decision came a day after a 3-0 loss to Brighton, which further damaged Chelsea’s league position and left their Champions League qualification hopes in serious doubt.
Rosenior, appointed in January, struggled to steady the team during a turbulent spell that also saw Chelsea endure a prolonged goal drought, including five straight league games without scoring.
In a statement, the club said recent performances had fallen “below the necessary standards” and confirmed that assistant Calum McFarlane would take charge as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
Despite a brief early uplift in form, Chelsea’s campaign collapsed in recent weeks, culminating in growing fan frustration and pressure on the manager before his dismissal.
