Chinese national jailed for ‘deceiving’ Pakistani girls

RAWALPINDI: A local court on Thursday sent a Chinese national to jail on judicial remand in a human trafficking case involving Pakistani girls lured with promises of marriage and lucrative jobs in China.
Senior Civil Judge Waqar Hussain Gondal presided over the hearing and remanded the accused, MA Shagai, to jail.
Accused arrested for raping teenage cousin
The suspect was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration officials.
The court has also ordered the arrest of other human traffickers named in the case.
According to the FIR filed by the victim, she was deceived with promises of marriage and employment.
Her family had reportedly signed a deal with the Chinese national worth Rs1 million, of which Rs150,000 had been paid before authorities intervened and apprehended the suspect.
Afghan national arrested
In another incident involving foreign nationals, Police in Karachi’s Mominabad area arrested an Afghan national for his alleged involvement in street crimes.
According to officials, the suspect, identified as Sher Hasan, is trained by the Afghan army. He was apprehended in Sector 4F, Bijli Nagar, and was found in possession of illegal weapons, mobile phones, and cash.
A case has been registered against the suspect.
Man arrested for allegedly killing 15-year-old girlfriend
Meanwhile, Police in Mian Channu have solved the mystery of a young girl’s murder by arresting her boyfriend, who allegedly killed her.
On March 11, the body of a girl was discovered in fields in a village in Mian Channu. Initially unidentified, police used technical evidence to trace and arrest the suspect, Shahid Mehmood, from Bahawalnagar.
He has confessed to the crime.
According to the police, the victim, 15-year-old Maimoona, had met Shahid through social media and had left her home in Karachi to live with him for two months.
When she became pregnant, the suspect refused to marry her and allegedly strangled her to death in the fields.
Police have confirmed his confession, and further investigations are underway.
