CM KP orders arrest of all those involved in murder of Kohistan girl on jirga’s decision

Kohistan girl

PESHAWAR: Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Arshad Hussain Shah has taken notice of the murder of a young girl, which was decided by a local jirga. He has issued directives to arrest all individuals involved in this extrajudicial killing.

The incident took place on Sunday in Barsharyal village, located in Kohistan’s Palas, approximately 150 kilometres northwest of Mansehra. The young girl lost her life at the hands of her own family, following orders issued by a local jirga.

According to reports, a local jirga handed down the decision to kill the girl after a video surfaced on social media showing her dancing with another girl and youth. Subsequently, the other girl was taken into police custody due to threats to her life.

However, she was later released to her family with assurances of complete security. The youth featured in the video went into hiding, fearing retaliation, as the jirga declared them ‘chor’ and issued a decree for their killing.
