CM Maryam directs to complete Rawalpindi Ring Road project by Dec

RAWALPINDI: Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has instructed authorities to expedite the Rawalpindi Ring Road project with a target completion date set for December.
During her visit to the project site on Thursday, she received updates from officials of NESPAK and FWO regarding the project’s progress at the Tehraiya site.
According to the briefing, the project commenced in September 2023, aiming for full completion by February 2025. Currently, 24% of the work on the 38.3 km long Ring Road Project has been finished. Necessary structures along the route have been cleared to facilitate speedy construction, and efforts are underway to relocate utility services.

The project includes the construction of five interchanges, 11 overpasses, bridges over 2 rivers, 6 canals, and a railway bridge. Additionally, 15 subways and 53 small bridges are planned along the Rawalpindi Ring Road, along with a rest area.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized the project’s significance in enhancing transportation and fostering industrial development, which would create employment opportunities. She stressed the importance of adhering to the two-year deadline and ensuring high-quality construction without delays.
Maryam Nawaz also directed that interchanges on the Rawalpindi Ring Road should be named after the respective villages they serve.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by former Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, Members of Assembly Marriyum Aurangzeb, Uzmi Bukhari, Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, concerned secretaries, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, and other officials during the visit. INP
