CM Maryam Nawaz meets Dr Hasnat Khan, chart future of Punjab’s cardiac care

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif met renowned British-Pakistani cardiologist Dr Hasnat Khan in Lahore, where she congratulated him on assuming charge of the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology. The meeting also included detailed discussions on administrative planning and operational matters related to the newly established medical facility.

According to official details, the Chief Minister appreciated Dr Khan’s decision to return to Pakistan after years of professional experience in the United Kingdom, calling it a notable example of public service and national commitment. She said his expertise would play an important role in strengthening cardiac healthcare infrastructure in the province.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif reiterated her government’s goal of developing the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology (JIC) into a leading centre for heart treatment and medical excellence. She stressed that improving healthcare facilities across Punjab remains a key priority, particularly in the field of cardiology.

She also said that efforts are underway to enhance specialised medical services and promote Punjab as a destination for medical tourism, aiming to provide advanced treatment options not only within the province but across Pakistan.

Earlier this week, Dr Hasnat has been appointed as the Head, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Dean of the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology.
