CM Punjab increases monthly stipend for special persons to Rs7,500

LAHORE: The Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz announced an increase in the monthly stipend of special persons from Rs6,000 to Rs7,500 on Monday.
The CM chaired a special meeting to assess the Chief Minister Himmat Card project where the decision was made.

Maryam stated that it was important to assist special persons and directed that monthly stipends be provided for three years in the initial phase. This will help benefit around 30,000 people.
During the meeting, it was also deiced to launch an awareness campaign. This will help facilitate the provision of wheelchairs, with a helpline to also be established for registration purposes.
In the second phase, special persons will also receive 14 types of assistive devices to better their quality of life.
The provincial government said it aims to provide wheelchairs, hearing aids, tricycles, and Braille to make daily activities more manageable for people with disabilities.
The Punjab government also agreed that subsidised public transport facilities and loans will be made available to special persons in a phased manner.

The meeting was attended by Pervaiz Rashid, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, and Sania Ashiq, along with other key officials from relevant departments.
