COAS Asim Munir, Turkey’s army chief discuss expanding defence collaboration

RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Turkish General Staff, General Metin Gürak, met with Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), discussions covered a wide range of topics including defence, training, and joint initiatives focused on enhancing regional peace and stability. Both parties recognized the strong bilateral ties between their countries and pledged to enhance defense cooperation even further.

“COAS underscored the imperative of advancing existing military cooperation between their armed forces,” the statement added.

The visiting dignitary praised Pakistan’s endeavours in promoting regional peace and stability, along with acknowledging the Pakistan Army’s significant role in counter-terrorism efforts.

Upon arrival at GHQ, the Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Army paid tribute at Yadgar-e-Shuhada by laying a floral wreath. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army provided a guard of honor to the esteemed guest.
