LDA takes strict action against defaulters, multiple properties demolished

LDA crackdown in Lahore

LAHORE: In a significant move, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) teams carried out an extensive operation targeting illegal construction and commercial fee defaulters across various areas of Lahore.

The crackdown resulted in the demolition of five unauthorized constructions along Canal Road and in Izmir Town, accompanied by the sealing of a dozen properties throughout the city.

Under the vigilant supervision of Chief Town Planner II, the LDA focused its efforts in Sultan Town, where several under-construction properties and five shops were razed to the ground.

Simultaneously, the office of a bus company on Canal Road faced closure due to non-payment of commercial fees, reflecting the authority’s commitment to enforcing financial regulations.

The automotive association office also found itself sealed as a consequence of non-compliance with commercial fee payments.

Additionally, numerous establishments, including bank branches, workshops, a software house office, a private bakery, a pet shop, and a plaza building in the Canal Road Lahore area, were sealed. Two plazas in Izmir Town Lahore met a similar fate.

It is worth noting that prior to this decisive action, multiple notices had been issued to the owners of these properties, serving as a warning before the operation unfolded.

In a subsequent development, town planning teams targeted housing societies in Lahore such as Abdalian Society, GCP Society, PCSIR, Iqbal Avenue, and PIA schemes.

The teams took action against illegal commercial activities and commercial fee defaulters, resulting in the sealing of 36 properties. Additionally, multiple plots were also sealed during the operation.

This robust enforcement initiative by the LDA underscores the authority’s commitment to maintaining order in the urban landscape and ensuring compliance with regulations governing construction and commercial activities.
