Eid Miladun Nabi celebrated across Pakistan with religious fervour

ISLAMABAD: Eid Miladul Nabi (PBUH) is being celebrated across Pakistan on Wednesday with religious fervour and solemnity, with special prayers, processions and an International Seerat-un-Nabi Conference planned in Islamabad.

The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute at all provincial capitals. The occasion is being observed as a public holiday, according to Radio Pakistan.

Special prayers were offered after Fajr for the unity of the Muslim Ummah and the progress and prosperity of the country.

The main event of the day will be the International Seerat-un-Nabi Conference in the federal capital. The theme of the conference is “Protection, Development and Character Building of the Younger Generation in the Light of Seerat-un-Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Alihi Wasallam.”

Milad processions are being held in cities across the country, where ulema and khateeb are highlighting various aspects of the life of Hazrat Muhammad (PBIH) and stressing adherence to his teachings and Sunnah.

Streets, roads, buildings, mosques and houses have been decorated with green buntings, flags and colourful lights to mark the occasion.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have urged the younger generation to draw guidance from the Seerat of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and make high moral character, hard work and service to humanity the purpose of their lives.

In separate messages on Eid Miladun Nabi, they extended felicitations to the nation and the Muslim Ummah on the birth anniversary of Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH).

President Zardari said it was incumbent upon society to practically promote justice and fairness, tolerance, inter-sectarian and interfaith harmony, and the protection of human dignity.

He said the day reminded people of the great blessing of Allah Almighty through which humanity was granted the perfect path of faith, guidance, justice, mercy and noble character.

PM Shehbaz said that to overcome the economic, social and moral challenges confronting the country, collective lives must be moulded in accordance with the guidance provided by Islam.

The prime minister called for playing a role in making Pakistan a strong, prosperous, peaceful and welfare state.
