The license was granted following a comprehensive review process that ensured compliance with both, national and international safety standards and regulatory requirements.
The application for the construction license was submitted by the PAEC in April this year, accompanied by a detailed safety assessment report and other essential documentation.
The thorough evaluation process undertaken by ten PNRA involved scrutinising the safety measures proposed for the plant, the technical specifications and operational protocols that will govern its functioning.
Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit 5 is set to become the largest nuclear power plant facility in the country, with a production capacity of 1,200 megawatts (MW). It is expected to heavily contribute to the national grid, addressing the growing energy demands of 240 million populace.
