CPJ concerned about death threats, online harassment against Hamid Mir

Hamid Mir

ISLAMABAD: The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), a US-based non-governmental organization (NGO), has urged Pakistani authorities to investigate the “death threats and online harassment” directed at senior journalist and anchorperson Hamid Mir.

The development follows Mir’s communication to CPJ, where he disclosed receiving numerous death threats via social media and alarming warnings indicating a threat to his life.

Despite Mir’s efforts to report these threats to the Islamabad police last week, no First Information Report (FIR) has been filed yet, and there has been no initiation of an investigation, according to the journalist organisation.
