Darrell Sheets, a fan-favourite from the hit reality series Storage Wars, was allegedly subjected to cyberbullying in the lead-up to his death at the age of 67, according to his co-star René Nezhoda.
Authorities in Lake Havasu City confirmed they responded to a report of a body at Sheets’ home early on Wednesday, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said the case remains under active investigation and have not formally confirmed the cause or manner of death.
Co-star speaks out after tragic news
Following initial reports, Nezhoda shared a video message on social media, claiming that Sheets had been dealing with online harassment in recent weeks.
He alleged that Sheets had been “tormented” by an individual online, adding that the reality star had spoken publicly about the situation prior to his death.
Nezhoda urged viewers to reconsider how they engage with public figures, stressing that appearing on television does not make someone immune to harm or criticism.
“You never know what someone is going through,” he said, calling for greater accountability and empathy in online interactions.
Calls for accountability as investigation continues
Nezhoda also called on law enforcement to look into the alleged harassment, expressing hope that the matter would not be overlooked.
According to officials cited by People magazine, authorities have asked anyone with information to come forward as part of the ongoing investigation.
Sheets, known as “The Gambler” on Storage Wars after joining the A&E series in 2010, was remembered by his co-star as a dedicated family man and a fierce competitor on screen.
Despite their on-screen rivalry, Nezhoda described their off-screen relationship as friendly, noting that Sheets cared deeply about his loved ones.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain under review.
