WEB DESK: Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek will raise API prices for its V4-Pro and V4-Flash models and introduce separate peak and off-peak pricing, according to a company statement issued on Thursday.

The new pricing structure will see rates increase by 50 per cent to 1,100 per cent compared with current prices, depending on the model, token type and time of use.

The revised rates will take effect on August 17, with users paying different prices based on whether they access the models during peak or off-peak periods.

The move marks a significant change in DeepSeek’s API pricing as the Chinese startup continues to expand its AI model offerings and compete with major global AI companies.

DeepSeek has gained international attention for developing AI models that have challenged established players in the industry, particularly over the cost and efficiency of AI development and deployment.
