Defence day: Ministry of Information clarifies September 6 holiday notification

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has clarified that the notification circulating on social media regarding the September 6 Defence Day holiday is fake.

“Disseminating Fake News is not only unethical and illegal but it is also a disservice to the nation. It is the responsibility of everyone to reject irresponsible behaviour,” wrote Fact Checker MoIB in a tweet.

Defence Day was previously observed as a public holiday across the country. The last time this holiday was observed at the federal level was in 1997. However, the federal government discontinued this holiday for the national day in 1998.
