WEB DESK: Looks like ‘awaited’ Bollywood film Dhurandhar is facing yet another obstacle. The film based on Pakistan’s Lyari gang war has Sanjay Dutt in the lead as fearless Chaudhary Aslam but Aslam’s widow, Naureen Aslam, has strongly objected to the portrayal of her late husband, and has warned of possible legal action. Her statement follows the release of the film’s trailer, which she says contains disrespectful and offensive content.

In an interview, Naureen specifically cited a line in the trailer that referred to her husband as a “child of the devil and a jinn.” “We are Muslims, and such words are disrespectful not only to Aslam but also to his mother, who was a simple, honest woman,” she stated. She stated that if the film misrepresents her husband or engages in propaganda, she will pursue all available legal measures.

Chaudhary Aslam was a prominent officer known for leading aggressive operations against criminal gangs in Lyari area, including groups led by Rehman Dakait and Uzair Baloch. He was killed in a bomb attack claimed by the Pakistani Taliban in 2014.

Naureen’s objections come shortly after the family of Indian Army Major Mohit Sharma also sought a stay on the film’s release, alleging inaccurate depiction. In Dhurandhar, actor Sanjay Dutt portrays a character based on Aslam, while Ranveer Singh plays the lead.

Naureen questioned the narrative focus of Indian filmmakers, saying, “It is strange that Indian filmmakers find no other subjects but to malign Pakistan.” She described her husband as a brave officer whose reputation intimidated criminals and terrorists, and insisted that any suggestion otherwise would be legally challenged.

She awaits the full release of the film before deciding her final course of action but remains prepared to defend her husband’s legacy through the courts.
