Doctor accused of repeatedly raping female guard; police act after suicide attempt

FAISALABAD: The police registered on Saturday a First Information Report (FIR) of an alleged rape after the victim attempted suicide due to being denied justice.

The victim, a female security guard at Faisalabad’s Children ’s Hospital, was allegedly raped multiple times by a doctor employed at the same hospital.

According to the victim, the doctor forced her into sexual activity, threatening that she would lose her job otherwise.

He also recorded her obscene videos, warning her that he would post them on the internet if she refused to sexually please him or told anyone about their ‘relationship’.

According to the FIR, the victim reported this to the hospital’s DMS, who, according to her, joined the alleged rapist in blackmailing her.

The victim also accused her supervisor of attempted rape. The FIR stated that the guard supervisor, along with his accomplice, locked the victim in a room and tried to rape her.

The FIR further mentioned that the victim tried to report the alleged episodes of rape to the police, but they did not act against the accused rapist.

Moreover, her husband, under societal pressure, asked his raped wife to seal her lips.

Distressed by this situation, the victim attempted suicide. This incident put pressure on the police, leading them to register the FIR.

Besides the apathy shown by Faisalabad police in this case, another incident in Faisalabad district speaks volumes about their professional conduct.

On January 6, three brothers were brutally killed while in police custody at a police station falling within the jurisdiction of Faisalabad police.

The victims were locked up in the hawalat (lockup) of Saddar Police Station when eight armed individuals attacked the station, killing three and injuring one.

At the time of the attack, four policemen were present at the station, while the hawalat was guarded by just one policeman.

A day before this incident, a ninth-grade student was allegedly raped by the principal of a private academy in Lahore.

According to the victim’s father, the principal asked his daughter to stay for an extra class. When all the students left the academy, he took her to the laboratory and allegedly raped her.

Punjab police registered an FIR of the incident, but the victim’s mother accused the police of being reluctant to arrest the alleged rapist.
