ECP gives green light to caretaker govts to ink foreign agreements

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has granted permission to caretaker governments to execute foreign agreements.
In a statement, the ECP asserted, “Caretaker governments are empowered to engage in both bilateral and multilateral agreements pertaining to ongoing projects.”
ECP kicks off delimitation process for general elections
As per the ECP’s pronouncement, “Caretaker governments possess the prerogative to make determinations in accordance with the provisions outlined in the Public-Private Partnership Authority Act of 2017. Agreements can be formalized under the purview of the Trade Transactions Act as well as the Privatisation Commission Ordinance.”
The ECP cautioned caretaker governments against exerting influence over the electoral process.
