ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday issued a comprehensive security plan for polling stations ahead of the upcoming by-elections.
According to the guidelines, police will serve as the first-tier responders at all polling stations. Civil armed forces have been designated as the second tier and will remain on standby to provide immediate support when required. The Pakistan Army will act as the third tier and operate as the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) to handle any emergency situation.
The ECP further said that security personnel will be deployed outside all highly sensitive polling stations to ensure a peaceful polling process.
The commission has also directed authorities to maintain foolproof security at printing presses during the printing of ballot papers, while strict security measures will be ensured during the transportation of ballot papers to and from polling stations
