ECP to issue cards to international observers to cover the general elections

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP) has devised a policy for the issuance of cards to international observers to cover the general elections, to be held on February 8, 2024, and decided to introduce a digital information application.
Sources revealed that the printing of special features accreditation cards for international observers is in its final stages, meanwhile, international observers can obtain visas through the online service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be responsible for providing the complete list of international observers to the electoral body.
The Election Commission’s sources state that the Ministry of Interior will carry out the security clearance of the international observers, while formal letters have been sent to various forums, including the European Union and the Commonwealth.
A desk will be established for international observers at the Central Secretariat of the Election Commission in Islamabad, and facilitation centers will also be established in four provincial election commissioners.
ECP seeks details of private schools ahead of general election 2024
Meanwhile the ECP has also started the printing of nomination papers in connection with the preparations for the general elections.
According to sources connected with the Election Commission the ECP is printing the nomination papers from the Printing Corporation and the papers will be delivered to the District Returning Officers(DROs) before the election schedule.
The commission will give nomination papers of the candidates in proportion to the total voters of the district while there will be white colored nomination papers for general, reserved seats for women and minorities.
ECP has fixed the date of February 8, 2024 to hold general elections in the country after meeting with President Arif Alvi on the orders of the Supreme Court.
