PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has stated that those who were not visible during the election campaign, who were sleeping in their homes, and who had given up on the election, emerged as winners.
Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, Maulana Rehman emphasized that he had dedicated his entire life to contesting elections, with the toll visible even in his graying beard. Recalling his involvement in the 1965 and 1970 elections, where he campaigned for his father, Maulana Fazlur Rehman questioned the fairness of the recent election outcome.
He expressed disbelief that individuals who were absent from the campaign trail or had shown little interest in the electoral process could secure victory.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticized the system, suggesting that those entrenched within it would lament, while outsiders would boldly express their voice.
Expressing deep-seated apprehension, he voiced his worries about the country’s cohesion, fearing its disintegration.
Despite his longstanding advocacy for the country’s survival, security, and stability, he lamented being sidelined by the establishment, holding it responsible for electoral irregularities.
