Emirati entrepreneur Ali Sawani warns of ‘survival of the fittest’ amid AI onslaught

ISLAMABAD: Emirati entrepreneur Ali Sawani has sounded the alarm bell over the accelerating rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), warning that the world is entering a “survival of the fittest” phase as smart systems reshape the global job market.

In a recent online discussion, Sawani cautioned that the next two to three years could see an unprecedented surge in unemployment, with AI replacing human roles at a pace never witnessed before.

He stressed that the shift will not be limited to low-skilled jobs. Instead, it will cut across the entire professional spectrum — affecting engineers, lawyers, consultants, accountants and a broad range of skilled workers.

“What will these people do? How will they support themselves and their families when AI takes over tasks that once required years of education and experience?” he asked, pointing to growing economic anxieties worldwide.

Sawani said the coming era will favour individuals who adapt, reskill and embrace AI as a tool to stay relevant in a rapidly changing environment. “Those who learn to use AI will grow exponentially, but those who don’t will face severe challenges within a few years,” he warned.

His remarks echo mounting global concerns that governments, industries and individuals must urgently prepare for a transformed workforce — one where adaptability may decide who thrives and who struggles.

On Instagram, several users reacted to Sawani’s comments after his video gained traction online. One follower wrote: “Your vision about AI is inspiring! I believe the future belongs to bold minds like yours. I have a powerful idea that blends technology and creativity — it could be the next big thing for Dubai. All I need is one chance to share it with you.”

Another user praised the pace of technological change, saying, “The rapid evolution of technology management is truly impressive.”

A third viewer raised concerns about digital fragility, remarking, “I strongly believe we may face internet issues in the future. I don’t know how, but the possibility is there — and if that happens, how will AI function without the internet?”
