Ex-minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan arrested

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former aviation minister Ghulam Sarwar along with former National Assembly member Mansoor Hayat Khan and former Punjab assembly member Amar Siddique during a raid at a house in the federal capital.

Sources said that Sarwar and other arrested PTI leaders were present at their friend’s house when the Islamabad police along with the Rawalpindi police arrested them.

The arrests have been made in connection with their alleged involvement in the May 9 riots. Following the arrest of former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan on May 9 from the premises of Islamabad High Court, bloody riots erupted across Pakistan and party supporters took the streets and resorted to violence, rioting and arson and rummaged through public and private property and also set various sensitive installations including the Lahore Corps Commander’s House on fire.

The rioting and arson led to the mass arrest of PTI leaders and workers by police and other law enforcement agencies.
