Exporters all praise for PM over electricity rate cuts for industry

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of leading exporters called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today at the Prime Minister House on Friday.

The exporters praised the prime minister and the government for the recent reduction in the price of electricity for industries, describing it as a significant relief for the industrial and export sectors.

They expressed full confidence in the government’s economic policies and assured their full cooperation.

The delegation also voiced their support for the government’s efforts to penalise those harming the country’s treasury and tax evaders.

Addressing the delegation, the prime minister emphasised that exports are the backbone of the country’s economy and crucial for its development.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance of rapid and sustainable growth in the export sector.

The premier acknowledged the vital role exporters play in the country’s development and assured them of all necessary support to promote non-traditional exports.

He stressed the need to make decisions that are in the national interest and predicted an increase in the ratio of exports to GDP.

Furthermore, he assured the timely payment of sales tax refunds to industrialists and traders, emphasising that negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.

Shehbaz Sharif promised to provide all possible facilities to businessmen and industrialists within the available resources.

He directed federal ministers to consult with the delegation to promptly address all their issues.

The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Petroleum Minister Mussadik Malik, Power Minister Owais Leghari, Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Ali Parvez Malik, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecom Shaza Fatima, Salman Ahmed, and other relevant officials.
