ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday suspended Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Falak Naz Chitrali membership for two days for using inappropriate language against Senator Faisal Vawda during a Senate session.
During a Senate session chaired by Yusuf Raza Gilani, tensions rose after PTI senators returned to the House following their walkout. Faisal Vawda was speaking when Senator Falak Naz Chitrali interjected, questioning his status and asking why he was speaking.
In response, Faisal Vawda retorted, “I don’t know you, what is your status? You people are breaking the country, plotting, and hurling insults at our mothers and sisters, but we tolerate it.”
As PTI senators protested against Vawda’s remarks, government senators rallied in his defence. Vawda then addressed the PTI members, saying, “Be patient now, the process has started. It is the weakness of the institutions and the government that these people are using foul language.”
Senator Falak Naz Chitrali escalated the situation by asking, “How dare you mention our leader?” This led to government senators loudly questioning, “Which leader?”

Vawda responded that he would not engage in using foul language in return but called on the Senate chairman to demand an apology from Chitrali.
Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Aimal Wali Khan also supported the call for an apology. Vawda went further, suggesting, “This is the House. Call the sergeants and take Falak Naz Chitrali from here.”
Though the Senate chairman expunged Chitrali’s inappropriate remarks from the record, Vawda declared, “If you expunge her words, I will respond with double the foul language.”
The Senate chairman warned that if Falak Naz Chitrali did not apologise, her membership would be suspended. Amid repeated calls from government members to take action, both government and opposition members gathered around the Senate chairman’s dais.
Eventually, the Senate chairman suspended Falak Naz Chitrali’s membership for two days and adjourned the session until 3pm on September 12.
