LAHORE: In a move set to benefit retired government employees, the Accountant General Punjab has launched a fast-track cell aimed at ensuring the prompt and hassle-free payment of General Provident (GP) Fund money.
The initiative, which is expected to streamline the process, was inaugurated by Additional Chief Secretary Punjab, Ahmed Raza Sarwar, in a ceremony held at the Accountant General’s office.
The event, attended by Accountant General Punjab Nomana Gulrukh along with officers of the AG office and retiring employees from various departments, marks a significant step toward improving the efficiency of pension-related services.
Addressing the gathering, Additional Chief Secretary Sarwar noted that the primary goal of the fast-track cell is to eliminate bureaucratic delays and facilitate retiring employees in receiving their due funds swiftly.
“This initiative is to ensure that retiring employees do not face unnecessary delays or complications in accessing their GP fund,” he said.
Nomana Gulrukh, Accountant General Punjab, highlighted that the new system would significantly increase transparency. With the implementation of automatic data updates for each employee, the GP fund process will be streamlined, ensuring faster disbursement of funds at the time of retirement.
“If any employee faces issues while obtaining their GP fund, my office will always be available to assist them,” Gulrukh reassured. The system aims to reduce paperwork and improve efficiency in processing the GP fund requests.
At the end of the ceremony, shields were presented to recently retired employees as a gesture of appreciation for their services. The new fast-track cell is expected to be a game-changer, offering retirees peace of mind knowing that their due payments will be handled swiftly and transparently.
