FIA arrest 900 suspects violating cyber laws in 6 months

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested 900 suspects for cyber law violations over the past six months.
This year has seen a record surge in online cybercrime cases, with the FIA Cyber Crime Wing processing 116 inquiries each day.
Official statistics reveal that over 21,000 inquiries have been registered against 52,000 suspects in the first six months of the year. During this period, approximately 5,500 cases have been filed.
Charges have been brought in more than 300 cases, covering issues such as bank fraud, privacy violations involving women and children, data theft, blackmailing, and financial transactions.
In the Lahore Zone alone, over 1,600 inquiries have been recorded. In the provincial capital’s Cyber Crime Wing, 982 cases have been filed. Additionally, 1,555 inquiries were registered in Gujranwala and 1,583 in Faisalabad.

In addition, more than 1,363 inquiries were registered in the Multan Zone, 1,525 in Islamabad, and 642 in Peshawar. In the Gujranwala Zone, 747 inquiries were registered, while Faisalabad Zone saw 580, and Peshawar Zone had 459 cases filed. The FIA Cyber Crime Wing has arrested over 5,100 suspects.
According to official statistics, recoveries totalling 5.5 billion rupees have also been made from the suspects.
