Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met prominent figures and political leaders from Balochistan, according to a statement issued by the military’s media wing on Friday.
Addressing the meeting, Field Marshal Munir said Balochistan and Pakistan share a common present and future, and always will. He described the province as rich with talented, steadfast, patriotic and dignified people, and said lasting peace and stability were essential to unlocking Balochistan’s true economic potential. Such stability, he said, was indispensable to attracting investment and converting the province’s human and natural resources into prosperity for its people.
He said Balochistan’s youth lacked neither talent nor opportunity, calling them the most dynamic and promising segment of society, and said empowering young people and giving them a role in national development was central to sustainable progress.
Munir alleged that “Fitna al-Khawarij” and “Fitna al-Hindustan” were foreign proxies of hostile elements seeking to destabilise Balochistan, and said these elements were working to obstruct the province’s development and create a divide between the state and its people. He said the nation’s collective resolve, backed by a firm, decisive and comprehensive state response, would defeat such designs.
The army chief praised the role played by Balochistan’s prominent figures and social leaders in promoting peace, social harmony and constructive national dialogue, and said there was a need to counter hostile propaganda boldly and comprehensively, expose false narratives, and highlight the province’s real potential, development and the aspirations of its people. He said the future of Balochistan rested solely in the hands of its own people.
Participants of the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to peace, development and prosperity in the province, and pledged to stand alongside the state and armed forces against foreign-sponsored threats. They expressed their resolve to contribute toward building a peaceful, stable and prosperous Balochistan through people-centred development, and said the truth would ultimately prevail, while the false narratives of hostile forces would be buried under their own propaganda and deception.
