Fire breaks out at two sites in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills

ISLAMABAD: A fire broke out at two separate locations in the Margalla Hills National Park near the Monal area on Friday, officials said, with firefighting efforts underway to contain the blaze.

Officials said that fire crews had brought one section of the blaze under control, while efforts were continuing to extinguish the second fire site.

The fire erupted in the Monal vicinity of the Margalla Hills and spread rapidly due to strong winds, they added.

Teams from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) were engaged in firefighting operations.

Authorities said that the fire at one location had been contained, but the second site remained active as crews struggled to bring it under control.

Wind conditions were reportedly accelerating the spread of flames across parts of the hillside forest area.

Officials did not immediately report any casualties or damage to property.
