BEIJING/ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy celebrated a significant milestone as the first Hangor-class submarine, destined for Pakistan, was launched in China, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The launch ceremony took place at the Xu Angliu Base of the Dachang Shipbuilding Industry Group Company Limited in China with Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf gracing the event as the chief guest, the ISPR said.

This venture marks a pivotal moment in the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China. The project stems from an agreement inked during the visit of the Chinese President to Pakistan, outlining the procurement of eight Hangor-class submarines.
