Flash flood alert issued for upper KP

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued flash flood alert for Chitral, Upper Dir, Kohistan and Swat.

According to the PDMA advisory, temperatures were predicted to “increase gradually in most upper parts of the province from June 20 to June 24, risking glaciers melting, which is likely to lead to flash flooding.

The PDMA has advised district administrations across KP to remain alert, and to notify communities at a high risk of floods. Tourists, travellers and locals have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
