CAA issues show cause notices to two airlines over flight delays

CAA issues show cause notices to airlines for flight delays

ISLAMABAD: In response to a series of prolonged flight delays and numerous cancellations causing inconvenience to hundreds of passengers, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) issued show cause notices to Serene Air and Air Blue on Thursday.

The announcement came from a CAA spokesperson, who stated that the regulatory authority took this action following a thorough investigation into the operational issues faced by the two airlines.

Serene Air and Air Blue were served with show cause notices on January 2 and January 15, respectively.

The notices indicate that the airlines must provide convincing assurances to the Director General of PCAA that they will address the identified issues and prevent such serious lapses in the future.

Failure to do so may result in regulatory measures, including financial penalties, licence suspension or cancellation, and a reduction in the number of scheduled flights.

The show cause notices specifically highlight the airlines’ failure to conduct flight operations on time and maintain regularity, which goes against established regulatory standards.

These operational shortcomings have led to significant disruptions, affecting passengers and tarnishing the industry’s reputation. The PCAA emphasised its unwavering commitment to passenger safety, comfort, and convenience.

The regulatory authority stressed the importance of all airlines operating within the country’s airspace adhering to the highest industry standards.
