Four terrorists, including Afghan national, killed in Kurram operation

Security forces killed four terrorists, including Afghan national Ubaidullah Saad, during an intelligence-based operation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district, according to state-run Pakistan Television (PTV).

The operation was conducted based on intelligence about foreign terrorists, it said.

Saad was a resident of Shahi Qala village in Afghanistan’s Logar province and was involved in multiple acts of terrorism in Pakistan.

It further said that operations against elements hostile to the state would continue without discrimination.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for the successful operation in Kurram and commended them for killing the four terrorists.

In a statement, Naqvi said the security forces’ operations to restore peace in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa were commendable. He described the personnel involved as a source of pride and said the nation stood with the security forces in the fight against terrorism.

On Wednesday, security forces killed 11 terrorists in intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Kharan and Washuk districts, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In Kharan, security forces foiled an attempt by terrorists to block a road. An immediate response resulted in the killing of eight terrorists, ISPR said.

In Washuk, three terrorists were killed during another intelligence-based operation, and their hideout was destroyed, according to the military’s media wing.

Security forces also recovered 2.9 tonnes of explosives from the site, which ISPR said were being used to manufacture improvised explosive devices.

A clearance operation was underway in the area to eliminate any other terrorists, ISPR said.

The military said security forces and law enforcement agencies were continuing operations against terrorism under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam initiative.
