WEBDESK: Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and his longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez have married in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, marking a new chapter in the relationship of one of the world’s most closely followed celebrity couples.

The couple tied the knot on August 11, 2026, with their five children among those present at the intimate ceremony. Ronaldo, 41, confirmed the marriage on Instagram by sharing a photograph of the couple’s hands showing their wedding bands, accompanied by the caption “C❤️G”.

The wedding comes almost a year after Rodríguez, 32, publicly announced their engagement. A year ago on August 11, 2025, she shared a photograph of her engagement ring and wrote in Spanish, “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”

A relationship that began in Madrid

The Al Nassr forward Ronaldo, and Rodríguez have been together since 2017 after meeting in Madrid while Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store, reported People. They made their first major public appearance as a couple at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich in January 2017 before confirming their relationship on social media later that year.

Ronaldo later recalled the early stages of their relationship in Rodríguez’s Netflix series I Am Georgina, saying he had not expected their romance to become so serious but eventually came to view her as the woman of his life.

The couple kept their wedding relatively private despite maintaining a huge global following and regularly sharing glimpses of their family life online.

Their family

Ronaldo and Rodríguez are raising five children. Their family includes Ronaldo’s eldest son, Cristiano Jr., 16, and twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 9, whom Ronaldo welcomed in 2017. They also share daughters Alana, 8, and Bella, 4.

The couple suffered a major personal loss in 2022 when their newborn son, Ángel, Bella’s twin brother, died. Rodríguez later continued to speak publicly about the family’s grief and the impact of the loss.

Beyond their family life, Rodríguez has built her own career as a model, entrepreneur and media personality. Her Netflix series has offered an inside look at her relationship with Ronaldo, their children and her professional life.

Ronaldo remains one of the most decorated footballers in the sport’s history. The Portugal captain has played for Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus and has won five Ballon d’Or awards and five UEFA Champions League titles. He currently plays for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

For Rodríguez, the wedding formalises a relationship that has lasted nearly a decade and developed alongside their careers, business interests and life as one of the most recognisable couples in global sport and entertainment.

The ceremony also closes the latest chapter of a long courtship that began with a chance meeting in a Madrid fashion store and culminated in an intimate wedding surrounded by their children.
