Gas leak sparks huge blaze in Hattar, Woman, child among dead

HARIPUR: Gas leak sparked a huge blaze in the Hattar Industrial Estate, resulting in the death of a woman and a child, while four others were injured.

According to initial reports, the fire erupted after a leakage in the main gas pipeline, which quickly escalated into a massive inferno.

The explosion-like sound of the fire caused panic among nearby residents.

Rescue teams, police, the DPO, the Deputy Commissioner, and other officials immediately reached the site and launched rescue and firefighting operations.

The DPO Haripur said the incident occurred due to a gas pipeline fire that intensified rapidly.

He added that rescue teams and the fire brigade are working to bring the situation under control, while the area has been cordoned off to prevent further damage.

Nearby houses were evacuated, and the road leading to Hattar has been closed for traffic.

Authorities further said that investigations into the incident are underway, and complete details will be shared later.

The fire broke out near factories in the industrial zone, with fears of further spread. Gas supply from Wah Cantt has been suspended, while evacuation of nearby labour quarters is also ongoing.
