Gemstone dealer robbed of over Rs8.5 million at gunpoint in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A gemstone dealer and his partner were looted of Rs8.5 million at gunpoint by armed motorcyclists in Islamabad’s Kohsar area on Tuesday.
Hidayat Hussain Mir, a gemstone dealer and resident of Sector I-10, filed a complaint with the Kohsar Police Station, saying that after withdrawing Rs5 million from Meezan Bank and Rs2.7 million from Alfalah Bank in I-10, he and his cousin, Nadeem, drove to a residence on Nazimuddin Road in their Honda Civic to collect additional money.
According to him, around 3:15 pm, as they parked near the intended house, two armed men on a Honda 125 motorcycle showed up and intercepted them. He said that the robbers held them hostage at gunpoint and made off with a bag containing a total of Rs8,592,007.

The complainant said that the stolen amount was intended for a business transaction. He said that the suspects, aged between 30 and 40 years old, were wearing dark-coloured shalwar kameez.
The complainant said that he could identify the suspects if they were arrested.
Police have confirmed that they have received an application and launched an investigation into the incident but made no arrests till the filing of this report.
