Gen-Z-led CJP calls off protest after govt accepts students’ demands

WEB DESK: The Gen-Z-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday announced an end to its protest against alleged examination paper leaks after the government agreed to accept the demands raised by students.

The decision came after successful negotiations between government representatives and student leaders, according to a CJP spokesperson.

The protests, which continued for several weeks, saw thousands of students demanding transparency and reforms in India’s examination system. The movement’s key demand was the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which was later (Saturday) accepted by the government.

During a joint press conference, Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, along with student representatives, announced that the government would provide “dignified compensation” to the families of students who died by suicide following the cancellation of the NEET examination.

The government also agreed to withdraw cases registered against protesters during the demonstrations.

CJP spokesperson Saro Das said all major demands of the protesters had been accepted, prompting the group to call off the agitation with immediate effect. He urged participants to end the protest peacefully and return to their homes.

The student-led movement had gained nationwide attention, mobilising thousands of young people and receiving support from opposition parties, increasing pressure on the government to address concerns over examination transparency.
