Ghulam Nabi Memon returns as Sindh Police IG for second time

SINDH: Ghulam Nabi Memon has been appointed as the Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police for the second time, with official notification of his appointment issued.
Memon, a seasoned Grade 21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously held key positions including IG Sindh and Additional IG Karachi.
The decision marks Memon’s return to the helm after the interim tenure of Raja Riffat Mukhtar as acting IG Sindh.
This appointment underscores Memon’s extensive service record and leadership capabilities. His initial appointment as IG Sindh in June 2022 was followed by a brief hiatus, during which Raja Riffat Mukhtar assumed the responsibilities.

Now, Memon reassumes the mantle, and the Sindh Police anticipate continuity in strategic direction and enhanced efforts to ensure public safety and security across the province.

The IG is responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and ensuring the safety and security of the public.
They coordinate with other law enforcement agencies and government departments to address complex cases and security challenges. The IG represents the police force in interactions with the media and the public, often acting as the spokesperson during significant events or crises.
Implementing policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness of the police force is a key part of their role. The IG is involved in the training and professional development of police personnel to enhance their capabilities.
