WEB DESK: At this year’s Google I/O 2024 event, tech enthusiasts witnessed the unveiling of Android 15 Beta 2, marking a significant milestone in the Android ecosystem.
Departing from tradition, Google chose the second day of the event to introduce its latest iteration of the Android operating system, reserving the initial day for AI-centric revelations.
The release of Android 15 Beta 2 closely follows the initial beta version, but notably excludes compatibility with Samsung Galaxy phones for now.
However, Samsung enthusiasts need not fret, as the tech giant plans to roll out its own One UI 7.0 Beta Programme to the public later this year, promising an array of exciting features.
Android 15 Beta 2 introduces a host of new features aimed at enhancing user experience, bolstering security, and fortifying privacy measures.
Noteworthy additions include refined Picture-in-Picture (PiP) functionality for smoother transitions and optimised viewing experiences, and personalised widget previews, allowing users to tailor their home screens with precision.
Additionally, under-the-hood optimisations seek to enhance device performance, battery life, and accessibility, with features like Predictive Back by Default, Custom Vibration Effects, and Extended Battery Life.
With support from a diverse array of smartphone brands, Android 15 Beta 2 promises to reach a wide audience, paving the way for a more inclusive and feature-rich Android ecosystem.
While Samsung users eagerly anticipate the arrival of One UI 7.0, Google continues to push the boundaries of innovation, setting the stage for a dynamic future in the realm of mobile technology.
Notably, the list of smartphone brands supporting Android 15 Beta 2 includes Google Pixel, Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Sharp, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi. However, Samsung smartphones currently do not support Android 15 Beta 2.
