KARACHI: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan on Wednesday praised the Dawoodi Bohra community for its contributions to public welfare, particularly in the fields of healthcare and education, during visits to key community institutions in the city.

At Saifee Hospital, the governor toured facilities including a newly established cardiac wing, where he appreciated efforts to expand access to specialised medical care. He commended the institution’s role in strengthening healthcare services and noted the broader contributions of community members to social welfare and economic activity in both Karachi and Punjab.

He also highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare, acknowledging initiatives that promote healthier lifestyles. Officials briefed him on recreational and fitness facilities, including those associated with the Nadil Burhani sports academy, which encourage physical activity in urban settings.

Later, the governor visited Aljamea tus Saifiyah, an educational institution run by the Dawoodi Bohra community. During a tour of the campus, he met faculty and students and expressed appreciation for the institution’s academic environment and infrastructure.

Speaking at an interaction with students, Mr Haider noted the balance between religious and contemporary education offered at the academy. He encouraged students to maintain integrity and contribute positively to the country’s development.

The governor also recalled the visit of the community’s spiritual leader, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, to Pakistan during Ashara Mubaraka in 2024, and expressed hope for his return in the near future.

The visit concluded with a luncheon hosted by the community. Officials said the engagements reflected shared priorities in promoting health, education and social development.
