Govt announces two day public holiday for Ashura

Islamabad: Federal government on Thursday announced two day public holiday across the country on account of 9th and 10th Muharram.

The holidays will fall on July 28 and July 29 (Friday and Saturday) as Muslims in Pakistan and across the world will observe the religious occasion with grief and sorrow.

According to the notification issued by Cabinet Division, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the two-day public holiday.

All private and government offices, educational institutes, businesses, and other activities would remain shut during the two days.
