ISLAMABAD: The federal government has barred government employees from receiving both a pension and a salary if they are re-employed after retirement.
They will now be entitled to receive only one of the two. The Ministry of Finance has issued an official memorandum in this regard.
The office memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance said that if retired federal government employees are re-employed after the age of 60, they will be entitled to either the pension from their previous service or the salary from their current employment—not both.

The directive has been issued in light of the recommendations made by the Pay and Pension Commission 2020.
As per the new rules, in the case of regular or contractual re-employment or appointment, individuals will only receive either a salary or a pension.
According to the Ministry of Finance, pensioners will be given the option to choose between a pension or a salary.
