Govt to establish 5,000 joint e-working centres for freelancers

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Dr Umar Saif on Thursday said the government is taking steps to establish 5,000 joint e-working centres to facilitate freelancers.
He further said that efforts are underway to attract international investors to the proposed venture capital initiative for startups. In pursuit of this goal, he is planning to visit Saudi Arabia in the near future.
The minister announced that interest-free loans would be provided for the establishment of joint e-working centres, leading to the creation of millions of employment opportunities in the country.

He further said that there was a constructive conversation with the Caretaker Finance Minister, Dr Shamshad Akhtar, regarding a five-point agenda concerning the IT sector.
They delved deeply into the matter of retaining dollars within the IT industry. The ministry is of the view that this action will not only result in the relocation of overseas IT accounts to Pakistan and the restoration of investor trust but will also facilitate an influx of foreign currency into the country, leading to an immediate boost in IT export figures.
