Happily ever after: Jemima shares photos from her wedding to Cameron O’Reilly

Following reports earlier this week that British screenwriter and producer Jemima Goldsmith had married Irish-Australian financier Cameron O’Reilly, she has shared photos from the wedding on Instagram, further cementing the news.

The marriage comes more than two decades after the end of Jemima’s nine-year marriage to former Pakistan prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

Jemima, 52, and O’Reilly, 62, reportedly exchanged vows over the weekend in a private ceremony. She has since shared photographs offering a glimpse of the celebrations, while her family also confirmed the marriage on social media.

Her sister-in-law, Jemima Jones, was among the first to publicly share news of the wedding, posting a photograph with her husband Ben Goldsmith and writing: “Celebrating Jemima and Cameron’s wedding, with my favourite date, what a happy day!”

A private relationship

Jemima and O’Reilly are understood to have met through their work in film and documentaries and had known each other as friends before their relationship became romantic. The couple had been together for about a year and reportedly became engaged earlier this year.

O’Reilly is the son of the late Irish businessman, media magnate and former international rugby player Sir Anthony O’Reilly. An Oxford graduate, he worked in his father’s media businesses before moving into private equity.

He later founded Bayard Capital and acquired Swiss smart-meter company Landis+Gyr, where he served as chief executive. The company was sold to Toshiba for $2.3 billion in 2011.

O’Reilly has four children, while Jemima has two sons, Sulaiman and Kasim, from her marriage to Khan.

Ties to Pakistan

Jemima married Khan in 1995, when she was 20 and he was a former Pakistan cricket captain. The couple divorced in 2004, after which Jemima returned to Britain with their two sons.

Despite the end of their marriage, Jemima has maintained strong ties to Pakistan and has continued to publicly support Khan amid his imprisonment. She has raised concerns about his treatment and detention, describing the situation as a “human-rights emergency” and calling on the British government to speak out.

She has also attended Pakistan’s cricket matches in Britain with her sons and used her public platform to campaign for Khan’s release.

Jemima’s connection to Pakistan has also influenced her work as a filmmaker. Speaking about one of her projects, she said she wanted to portray the country as the “colourful, beautiful, joyful place” she knew rather than the version often depicted in Western productions.

Her film project was conceived as a romantic comedy set in Pakistan and featured Pakistani actor Sajal Ali alongside Shabana Azmi, Lily James, Emma Thompson and Shahzad Latif.

Her latest marriage comes nearly a year after the death of her mother, British socialite Lady Annabel Goldsmith. Her father, billionaire businessman Sir James Goldsmith, died in 1997.

While family photographs have provided a glimpse into the wedding celebrations, details about the ceremony and venue have not been made public.
