WEB DESK: While prices of petrol are rising constantly in Pakistan, there is one Pakistan assembled car that gives a bang for buck when it comes to mileage – if you can afford it that is – the HAVAL H6 HEV.
Here is what you need to know about it.
In a refreshing breakaway from the Pakistani automotive industry news, Sazgar Motors unveiled the Haval H6 HEV, the nation’s first locally assembled hybrid electric vehicle, in 2022. This collaboration between Great Wall Motors and Sazgar Engineering birthed a vehicle that promises to redefine standards in the local market.
Performance and Drivetrain
Under the hood, the H6 HEV houses a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine coupled with an electric motor, churning out a substantial 240 horsepower and 530 nm of torque. This powertrain, paired with a dedicated hybrid transmission that directs power to the front wheels, promises a robust and exhilarating driving experience. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 8 seconds, offering a top speed of 180 km/h, setting a high bar in its category.
Exterior and Interior Design
The exterior of the H6 HEV is a testament to aggressive yet sophisticated design, characterised by a massive front grille, LED head and fog lamps, and 19-inch gloss black alloys exclusive to the HEV variant. The interior harmoniously blends simplicity with futurism, featuring a dual-screen setup that houses the instrument cluster and the infotainment system, offering a luxurious and comfortable cabin space adorned with electric, ventilated seats available in tan and burgundy red colour options.
Safety and Technology
Safety remains a cornerstone in the H6 HEV’s design, offering a suite of features including six airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), and blind-spot detection (BSD), ensuring a secure driving experience. The technology package is equally impressive, with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen compatible with iOS and Android, enhancing the driving experience with a plethora of connectivity options.
Fuel Efficiency
This is where the car actually shines in a time of soaring fuel prices. It offers an impressive average of 16 to 18 km/l in city conditions, and up to 20 km/l on highways – the best in class in locally assembled vehicles.
Pricing
These are the lines where the devil lives. Haval H6 HEV comes with a hefty price tag of around Rs12.2 million. With soaring inflation and rising car prices, there is only a select class that will be able to buy the car. Also, with inflation adjusted, the car’s fuel efficiency might look enticing but a non-hybrid version that costs a few millions less could more than make up for the petrol money saved.

Having said that, it is still cheaper than any other hybrid vehicle offered by Pakistani auto manufacturers.
Conclusion
The Haval H6 HEV emerges as a formidable contender in the Pakistani automotive market, setting a new benchmark for locally assembled cars with its rich feature set, futuristic design, and impressive fuel efficiency. It promises a vehicle that not only meets but exceeds international standards, offering a premium driving experience at a competitive price point.
Being the first hybrid electric vehicle assembled locally, it promises a future of sustainable, efficient, and technologically advanced driving experiences.
An overall good car, if you can afford it.
