Hema Malini’s first post after Dharmendra’s passing: “He was everything to me”

MUMBAI: Bollywood mourns the loss of legendary actor Dharmendra, and his co-star and life partner, Hema Malini, has shared a heartfelt tribute following his death.

In an emotional statement, Hema Malini described Dharmendra as “many things” to her, a loving husband, adoring father to their daughters Esha and Ahaana, a friend, philosopher, guide, and poet. “He was my ‘go-to’ person in all times of need. In fact, he was everything to me,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter), reflecting on decades of love and companionship.

She spoke of the actor’s warmth and charm, which endeared him to her entire family. “He always showed affection and interest in all of them. As a public personality, his talent, humility, and universal appeal set him apart as a unique icon,” she added.

Hema Malini also expressed the depth of her personal grief, “The vacuum created is something that will last through the rest of my life. After years of togetherness, I am left with myriad memories to relive the many special moments.”

The couple, often called Bollywood’s “dream couple”, shared decades of cinematic and personal journeys, and Hema’s tribute captures both the grandeur of Dharmendra’s legacy and the intimacy of their lifelong bond.
