Hike in Islamabad Metro prices on the cards: CDA chairman

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Blue, Green and Orange Line Metro bus fare hike is under consideration, Hum News has learnt.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is considering increasing the fares of all three metro buses operational in the city.

A proposal for hike in fares has been prepared, suggesting the increase of Green and Blue Line buses fare from Rs 30 to Rs 60, and Orange Line bus fare from Rs 60 to Rs 100.

The fare hike proposal will be presented in the next CDA board meeting, when the final decision on the price hike will be taken. Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Capt. (r) Anwar-ul-Haq said that CDA does not have the money to run buses at the current subsidized rates. “An increase in fares is inevitable”, he said.

Earlier on Friday, the Finance Division announced revised petroleum prices, with petrol prices revised upwards by Rs 14.91 to Rs 305.36 per liter and High Speed Diesel revised upwards by Rs 18.44 to Rs 311.84 per liter.
