The Sindh Education Department has approved a new policy decision aimed at improving religious education options for Hindu students enrolled in government schools across the province.
Under the new plan, three religious textbooks will be introduced for students from Grade 3 to Grade 5. These books will be incorporated into the curriculum starting from the academic year 2026-27, replacing the existing ethics subject for Hindu students.
According to officials, the initiative is designed to ensure that students from minority communities receive education aligned with their religious and cultural background. The Sindh Textbook Board will allocate a dedicated budget next year for the printing and official publication of these books.
For the upcoming academic year, the initial printing of textbooks for government school students will be handled by Prem Sagar Sanstha Karachi, as part of a transitional arrangement before full-scale government publication begins.
The Education Department has formally approved the decision, describing it as part of broader efforts to promote inclusivity and diversity within the provincial education system.
